Rider's Circle K Recognized at District Conference

Members of Rider’s chapter of Circle K, an international organization dedicated to service and leadership development, recently attended the 2008-09 Circle K District Convention in Whippany, N.J., where they received several awards.
Rider’s Circle K took home third place for the Morris Silver Single Service for its Rock for Darfur Concert; and the Brian C. Kull Outstanding Newsletter Award. The club’s newsletter is written by editor Emily Madera, a senior Music Education major. Madera also received the Governor’s Impact Award.
Anna Friars, a freshman Music Education and Sacred Music dual major, received the Impromptu Essay Award and was selected as club representative for the N.J. District Board.
Fred Kerner, adviser for Rider’s chapter, received the Bruce E. Marich Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, and Nancy Chao, junior Music Education major, was recognized for her year of service as the chapter’s club president. Chao will serve another term next year.
The 2009-2010 board includes Chao as president, Kyle Seeley as treasurer, Meghan Jackson as editor, and Friars as club representative.
