FAQs

How do I receive a copy of Form 1098-T?
This form is mailed automatically to every student taking credit bearing courses that were billed during the 2007 calendar year (January 2007 - December 2007) for those courses.  The form is mailed to your permanent address that is on file with the University.  The IRS requires Form 1098-T to be postmarked by January 31, 2008.  Please allow 14 days before requesting a duplicate. 

What tuition and fee charges are reported on the 1098-T?
Only tuition and fees required for enrollment at Rider University are reported on the 1098-T.  These charges are:

  • Tuition (including overload)
  • Special course fees
  • Student Teaching fees
  • Student Activities fees
  • Technology fees
  • Laptop Program fees
  • Wall Street Journal fees
  • Orientation fees

What tuition and fee charges are NOT reported on the 1098-T?

  • Room and board charges
  • Books
  • Student Insurance
  • Student health charges
  • Fines (i.e. parking, library, traffic, etc.)

Where can I obtain a list of payments made to Rider?
You can view your account history for the year by checking MyInfo.  If you are unable to access MyInfo, please contact the Bursar's Office at (609) 896-5020 to request an account history.

Since I received a 1098-T form from Rider, am I qualified for one of the education tax credits?
Not necessarily.  Determination of eligibility is the responsibility of the tax payer.  You should consult your tax advisor or read IRS Publication 970 which can be obtained at www.irs.gov

Why does Rider include the Social Security Number on Form 1098-T?
The IRS requires that the Social Security Number be printed on the form and submitted to the IRS.
