Admission Requirements

Applicants for all graduate programs must hold a bachelor’s degree (in any major) from an accredited college or university. An applicant must have completed sixteen (16) years of formal education. Our graduate programs do not consider post-graduate diplomas or membership in professional institutes as qualifications for entry into a graduate program. Applicants who do not possess 16 years of education from a recognized college or university will not be considered for admission. Students who posses a total of 15 years of education must complete another year of education before applying to graduate programs at Rider University. All applicants for graduate study are required to:
  1. Complete the application for graduate study
  2. Submit the non-refundable $50 application fee.  All checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank. Application fee waivers are not available for international applicants.
  3. Submit a statement of aims and objectives
  4. Submit official transcripts from every college or university attended.  Transcripts, mark sheets, and/or exam results from all colleges and universities attended. Transcripts must have the official school seal and be translated to English. Photocopies are only accepted when attested by the college or university, or your local EducationUSA office. A listing of courses taken and grades received must be included. A course-by-course evaluation of credits may also be requested by the Committee on Admission.
  5. Submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores, if English is not your native language, and you did not attend a U.S. university for your undergraduate program

    Minimum TOEFL score: 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 80 (iBT)
    Minimum IELTS score: 6.5

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Current resume
  • Official notification of Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores (see below)
Master of Accounting (MAcc):
  • Current resume
  • Official notification of Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores (see below)
Graduate Level Teacher  Cetification Program
  • Official notification of Praxis test score (required test(s) is dependent upon the type of certification the applicant is seeking)
  • Note: (Program is not available to F-1 student visa holders; other visa holders should contact the NJ State Department of Teacher Licensure directly to ensure that they awould be eligible for student teaching and state certification) 
M.A. Counseling Services
  • 2 professional letters of recommendation
  • Oficial Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score results
  • Participation in a group interview session facilitated by faculty, including an on-site writing sample
M.A. Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision
  • 2 letters of recommendation (at least one from a current district or school administrator)
  • Prsonal leadership platform statement in instructional supervision
  • Particpation in an interview with a program coordinator
M.A. Educational Administration
  • 2 letters of recommendation (at least one from a current district or school administrator)
  • Participation in an interview with a program coordinator
M.A. Organizational Leadership
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Participation in an interview with the program coordinator may be required for some applicants
M.A. Reading/Language Arts
  • 2 professional letters of recommendations
  • Participation in an interview with a program coordinator
M.A. Special Education
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Copy of a current NJ Teaching License/Certificate
  • Participation in an interview with a program coordinator
M.A. Teaching
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • 2 letters of recommendation (at least one letter of recommendation from a district or school administrator, or an immediate supervisor or team leader)
  • Participation in an interview with a program coordinator
Education Specialist (ED.S.) Counseling
  • 2 current professional references
  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score results
  • Group or individual interview
  • Note:  Applicant must possess one year (or its equivalent) of counseling experience
Education Specialist (ED.S.) School Psychology
  • 2 current professional references
  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score results
  • Group or individual interview


GMAT Score Results
Please use the following codes to submit GMAT scores to Rider University:
Q5P-Q7-05 Executive MBA
Q5P-Q7-82 MBA, Full Time

F-1 student visa holders must also submit:

  1. Completed Graduate International Student Supplement with the signature and seal of a Notary or official administering oath
  2. Supporting financial documentation (ie. Bank statements, letter of employment/salary,etc.)
  3. Transfer Release Form, if you are currently studying in the U.S.
  4. Copies of all previous visa and/or I-20's processed and used in the United States, if applicable
