International Travel Courses & Projects

International Travel Projects These short-term travel projects typically last 2-3 weeks and are directed and taught by Rider faculty. These courses are offered for credit. Upcoming Summer 2009 Travel Projects


May 16-June 1, 2009. 3-credit course. IND210: Global Encounters: Alcala de Henares & Madrid, Spain 

 
Do you want to live in Spain for three weeks, visiting major cities, learning about culture and teaching English to elementary and high school students? This course will provide students with the opportunity to learn about Spanish culture while tutoring English to middle and high school students in beautiful Alcala de Henares, a historic university town 20 minutes from Madrid. The course is particularly valuable for education majors all any second major, who invariably will be teaching in classrooms with Spanish-speaking students. Foreign language majors may use the credits to satisfy collateral requirements. The course includes faculty lectures and tours of Madrid, Toledo, and Segovia.

CBA-315: Undergraduate Global Study Tour to Madrid and Barcelona,
Spain: will provide students with the opportunity to explore the
international business environment of Spain. Please contact

CBA-316: Undergraduate Nature's Business: Business, Geology and Biology
 in Panama: an interdisciplinary course that will provide students with
the opportunity to examine the relationship between economic, legal,
biological and environmental concerns in Panama. Please contact Dr. Denbo

CBA-317: Undergraduate Emerging Markets Study Tour to Bangkok, Thailand
and Singapore: will provide students with the opportunity to visit an
emerging economy-Thailand-and contrast it with a fully developed
economic star-Singapore. Please contact Dr. Lentz lentz@rider.edu

CBA-317: Undergraduate Emerging Nations Study Tour: Service Learning in
Niger, Africa: will expose students to one of the poorest countries in
the world and provide them with an opportunity to implement business
mentoring skills in a one-on-one relationship with Nigerian university
students.

MUS-312: Arts Abroad: London & Nice : January 6-19, 2010.
This 2-week Arts Abroad course will feature travel to Nice, and London,
each a vibrant center of culture and history.  The main goal of the trip is to famliarize the student with
these cities through their cultural offerings, including concerts, plays
and art museums.  Specific events include concerts by the London
Symphony Orchestra in London's Barbican Hall, theater productions at the
Royal National Theater and the West End district in London, formal bus
and walking city tours of all three cities. In London we will provide a guided tour
through Dickens and Shakespeare's London that culminates at the
reconstructed Globe Theater and a visit to the British Museum and
British Library. The course will consist of papers written about the five required
events.   Students may sign up for the class,  MUS 312, The Arts Abroad,
which is held in the spring semester or may elect to take the trip for
no credit.  Please see Ms. Laura Luck in Fine Arts Room 166 to sign up
for the trip.
