Scholarships and Grants

RIDER UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
Rider University scholarships and grants are applicable to all Rider University Programs and to non-Rider programs in countries where Rider does not have its own programs.
*If you plan to study with a non Rider University provider in a country where we do not have a program, please visit that provider’s website for information about its scholarship opportunities.

ALLIANCE FOR GLOBAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Alliance for Global Education awards study abroad scholarships. For the 2009-2010 acadenic year the Alliance ofers 2 scholarships of $6,000 and 20 scholarships of $2,500. These are need-based, with preference given to minorities and students from non-traditional majors. Click here for more information about Alliance Scholarships and application.

    Bowman Travel Grants to undergraduate students participating in study, work, and volunteer programs in non-traditional destinations, or for study with CIEE programs. Students must meet qualifications.

    More than 2,300 sources of college funding, totaling nearly $3 billion in available aid.
  • DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship Program http://www.daad.org/ 
    Supports undergraduate US and Canadian students interested in studying, conducting research, or completing an internship in Germany.
  • DIS http://www.dis.dk/Financial/Scholarship.php 
    Scholarships for students studying with DIS programs in Denmark. Awarded on the basis of financial need.
  • Financial Aid to study in Japan http://www.colorado.edu/ealld/atj/Bridging/ABRD-finaid.html
    University of Colorado at Boulder website lists scholarship sources for study in Japan, other countries in Asia and elsewhere.
  • Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) http://www.iie.org/pgms/Freeman-ASIA 
    Supports students studying in East and Southeast Asia for the summer or academic year.
  • Fulbright Fellowship Student Program http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html
    Highly competitive grants to recent undergraduate students and graduate students. Types of fellowships include study and teaching abroad. Contact Rider University professor Dr. Adriano Duque (aduque@rider.edu) for assistance.
  • German Chancellor Fellowship Program http://www.humboldt-foundation.de/en/programme/stip_sonst/buka.htm 
    Ten German Chancellor Fellowships annually to young professionals in the private, public, not-for-profit, cultural and academic sectors who are citizens of the United States. The fellowship provides for a stay of one year in Germany for professional development, study or research.
  • Gilman Scholarships http://www.iie.org/programs/gilman/overview/overview.html
    Provide qualified students up to $5,000 for a semester or academic year study abroad program. Students must be Pell grants recipients. The program aims to encourage students to choose non-traditional destinations, especially those outside of Western Europe and Australia. Supplemental scholarship funds (up to $8,000) to recipients who study critical languages.
  • IES Merit Scholarships https://www.iesabroad.org/info/finaid.html
    Merit Scholarship Program open to students on IES programs with GPA of 3.30 or above. From $500 to 50% off the IES program fee.
  • IFSA-BUTLER Scholarships http://www.ifsa-butler.org/ 
    A Rider affiliate, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) provides general scholarships, merit, country or region specific, and need-based scholarships.

  • Marshall Scholarships http://www.marshallscholarship.org/
    Finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Support either at the graduate or, occasionally, the undergraduate level for two years at an UK institution in any field of study.
  • NSEP David L. Boren Scholarships http://www.iie.org/programs/nsep/undergraduate/process.htm
    National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarships for U.S. undergraduates to study in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand excluded. Service requirement requires subsequent work in the federal government in positions with national security responsibilities.
  • SIT Study Abroad Scholarships http://www.worldlearning.org/721.htm SIT Study Abroad is a pioneer in field-based, experiential programs for undergraduate students.
  • Study & Internship Program (SIP) http://www.worldlearning.org/323.htm
    Joint program of German Universities of Applied Sciences and DAAD (above). Year in Germany. A semester of study followed by a one-semester professional internship at a company or research institute in Germany.

    Scholarships to American undergraduate students in study-abroad programs in Japan in any field of study.
  • 2008 Critical Language Scholarships for Intensive Summer Institutes https://clscholarship.org/home.php
    U.S. Department of State and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) scholarships for U. S. undergraduates or recent graduates for intensive overseas study in the critical need foreign languages.
