University of Graz, Austria
What’s study at the University of Graz about?

The University of Graz offers courses in English and German in a wide spectrum of disciplines, including law, pedagogy, philosophy, linguistics, foreign languages, business, American studies, sciences and history. Courses delivered in German require advanced German proficiency. Students typically pursue German-language study at the outstanding Vorstudienlehrgang Language School either exclusively, if language study is their goal, or concurrent with study at the University of Graz. Westminster Choir College students wishing to pursue courses in music should enroll in the program at the Universität fúr Musik und Dantellende Kunst (KUG-University of Music and Dramatic Arts). A 3-week intensive German language program at the University of Graz prior to the semester’s start provides accelerated language acquisition.
How much does it cost?
For Rider students, the study abroad fee is equal to Rider tuition. It includes tuition and support services from a local Rider University advisor. Students receive a stipend to help defray housing and intensive language course costs. Transportation, meals and incidentals are not included. Rider University students who receive financial aid will continue to do so during their study abroad. Contact Student Financial Services for further information.
Must I speak German to attend?
The equivalent of one year of university study of German is recommended, but not required. Students enroll in an intensive German language course in the month prior (September and/or February) to the beginning of the official semester.
Where will I live and eat?
Rider students are housed at the OEAD residence halls with other international students. Students may prepare their own meals and/or eat in university cafeterias and local restaurants.
What support services does Rider provide while I am in Graz?
Rider’s local advisor, Heidrun Moertl, works to help Rider students make a smooth transition into the culture and college environment. She will assist you with any academic or non-academic issues throughout the semester. At all times, she is in close contact with the Center for International Education.
