November 7, 2007 - Founder's Day Celebration Honors 57 Andrew J. Rider Scholars

More than 400 proud family members, faculty and administrators jammed the Bart Luedeke Center Theatre on Saturday, November 3, to honor the 2007 Andrew J. Rider Scholars during the Founder's Day Celebration. Provost Donald Steven presided as master of ceremonies for the event that served as one of the grand highlights of an enormously successful Parents Weekend that brought more than 1,500 guests to the Lawrenceville campus.


November 1, 2007 -- Works of Rider Fine Arts Professor Featured at the Bowery Gallery

LAWRENCEVILLE -- “Harry I Naar: Landscapes & Still Lifes – Drawings & Paintings,” featuring the work of Rider’s professor of fine arts and director of the Rider University Art Gallery, will run through Saturday, November 24, at the Bowery Gallery in New York City. An opening reception for Naar will take place Saturday, November 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Bowery Gallery is located at 530 West 25th Street on the fourth floor.

 

 

 


 


October 31, 2007 -- Rider to Host Kristallnacht Program

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Julius and Dorothy Koppeman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider University and the Rider University Campus Ministry will host its annual Kristallnacht program on Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Gill Chapel on the Lawrenceville campus.

On Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27, Westminster Choir College will celebrate its Family Weekend on the Princeton campus, and Rider’s Lawrenceville campus will hold its annual Family Day festivities on November 3.

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Dr. Susan T. Fiske, Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology at Princeton University and a noted specialist in the areas of discrimination and prejudice reduction, will deliver the Inaugural Marvin W. Goldstein Prejudice Reduction Lecture on Wednesday, November 7, at 8 p.m. at Rider University’s Bart Luedeke Center Theater.

LAWRENCVILLE -- James C. McCloskey, founder and executive director of Centurion Ministries, Inc., will present the Law and Justice Program’s 12th Annual Distinguished Award Lecture, on Tuesday, October 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Cavalla Room of the Bart Luedeke Center.

Rider’s Unity Day theme is “Many Cultures, One Student Body.”

LAWRENCEVILLE – Rider University and the Clergy of Lawrence Township (COLT) will host CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, September 30, to raise money for those affected by poverty and catastrophe.

LAWWRENCEVILLE  --  Dr. Mickey Hess, assistant professor of English at Rider University, is author of "Icons of Hip Hop:  An Encyclopedia of the Movement, Music, and Culture," a two-volume edited collection, which was published by Greenwood Press last month. Through a $17,900 grant from the Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program (BBNEP), Dr. Paul Jivoff, assistant professor of biology at Rider University, will advance his study on the effect bulkheads have on Barnegat Bay’s ecology by comparing natural versus bulkheaded shorelines throughout the bay this summer.
