OCTOBER 29, 1996- RIDER TO PRESENT PROGRAM ON RACE AND GENDER ISSUES IN THE COMMUNITY
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- The Race, Class, Gender, and Ethnicity Project at Rider University will host a public presentation entitled, "Race and Gender Issues in the Campus Community: A Male Perspective," on Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at 11:30 a.m. in room 102 of the Science and Technology Center. The featured lecturer will be Dr. Leslie Agard-Jones, Associate Professor of African, African-American, and Caribbean Studies at William Paterson College.
Dr. Agard-Jones is a specialist in multi-cultural education and campus climate issues, as well as in African and African-American history. He was the director of the office of multi-cultural education for the New York City Public Schools during the controversy over the "rainbow curriculum," and now serves as a consultant to the New York City Board of Education's multi-cultural education office.
A former Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Agard-Jones is currently an advisory board member for the New Jersey Statewide Project on Gender and Race as well as the Statewide Advisory Committee on Multi-Cultural Education.
