SEPTEMBER 27, 1996- PRINCETON COMMUNITY JAPANESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL COMES TO RIDER CAMPUS
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- An agreement has been reached which will bring the Princeton Community Japanese Language School to the Lawrenceville campus of Rider University.
The school, which was founded in 1980 to teach Japanese language and culture to all interested children and adults, was formerly based on the campus of Princeton University before building renovations forced administrators to move.
Based on the agreement, the school will use all classrooms in Memorial Hall every Sunday during the school year from noon to 5 p.m. The length of the agreement is one-year, which University officials hope to extend into a permanent relationship.
"We're always looking for ways to build bridges with the outside community," said Walter Perry, Director of the Student Center at Rider. "This is the kind of connection we like to have. We'll have about 200 families every Sunday coming on campus which we hope will have an enjoyable, educational experience. That may pay off down the road when these families are looking at colleges for their children."
For more information on the school and its course offerings, contact the Office of Campus Activities at (609) 896-5327, or call school administrator Sakiko Ono at (609) 683-7624.
Rider University's Lawrenceville campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township. The campus is one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
