NOVEMBER 5, 1997- FACULTY WING-EATING SHOWDOWN TO RAISE MONEY FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Rider University's great entrepreneurial minds will square-off with its astounding scientific wizards when six faculty members sit-down for a campus wing-ding in an effort to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Sponsored by Rider's chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national honor society for biology, the buffalo wing eat-off will pit three business faculty members -- Dr. Ronald Cook, Dr. Herbert Gishlick, and Dr. William Strahle -- against three biology professors -- Dr. Michael Benner, Dr. Jonathan Karp, and Dr. Jonathan Yavelow.

The poultry playoff will take place on Tuesday, November 18, at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Theater on Rider's Lawrenceville campus.

"Each team of faculty members basically has a total of 10 minutes to completely gorge themselves," said event organizer Brad Dooley, a Rider senior from Peoria, IL and vice president of Beta Beta Beta. "We'll be selling tickets to raise money for the Special Olympics -- Beta Beta Beta will get no funds from this event."

Proceeds from the $1 admission charge and any additional donations received at the door will benefit the Special Olympics Area 11, which serves the greater Mercer County region.

Rider University's Lawrenceville campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township, NJ. The campus is one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
