April 6, 2006 - Rider Professor Receives Highest Award from Association for Specialists in Group Work




Dr. Jesse DeEsch of Langhorne, PA, an associate professor of graduate education at Rider University, received the Eminent Career Award from the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) in Montreal on April 1.

Dr. DeEsch was presented the award at the American Counseling Association and the Canadian Counseling Association Convention for providing leadership to the field of group work.  The award is the highest presented to a member of the association. It is limited to one a year.

Prior to this achievement, Dr. DeEsch has received three ASGW Presidential awards and was honored as an ASG Fellow.  He is also the president of the New Jersey Association for Specialists in Group Work and conducts numerous group work programs throughout New Jersey and adjoining states. 

Founded in 1973, ASGW is a 3,000-plus membership association.  It is committed to establishing standards for professional and ethical group practice, to support research and the dissemination of knowledge related to group work, and to provide leadership and training in group specialities.
