OCTOBER 24, 1997- MAYO APPOINTED ASSOCIATE DEAN OF ACADEMIC SERVICES AT RIDER

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Ira Mayo (left) of Hamilton Square, who served as associate dean of undergraduate programs in the College of Business Administration (CBA) for 15 years at Rider University, has been appointed associate dean of academic services at the University.
In his new position, Mayo moves to the College of Continuing Studies and will oversee Rider's central student advising program. He will work closely with freshmen, particularly in the university studies program, coordinate the freshman seminar, and provide training for faculty advising. He will also help develop aids for faculty advising.
While in the business college, Mayo was responsible for academic advising, new student orientation, transfer students, workload planning for CBA, business college catalog revisions, certify students for graduation, budgeting, assisting in the admissions recruitment effort, allocating classroom space in the business building, and curriculum and policy review.
He served on numerous campus committees to include core curriculum, student life, strategic planning, NCAA certification, quality control, new student orientation, as well as Equal Opportunity Advisory Board, Honors Council, University Academic Policy Committee, and Middle States Evaluation Committee.
Before coming to Rider in 1982, Mayo served as an operations manager for Abraham & Straus of Hempstead, NY, and taught at Heritage School in Miami, FL.
He earned a B.A. degree from Queens College and a M.B.A. degree from Adelphi University.
