LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Morrisville resident Ruth Lubitz will discuss her experiences living through the Nazi reign of terror during the 1930's at the annual Interfaith Commemoration of Kristallnacht, which is co-sponsored by the Julius and Dorothy Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider University and the Campus Ministry.
The program will be held on Thursday, November 6, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel on Rider's Lawrenceville campus. Dr. Harvey Kornberg, associate director of the Center, will introduce Mrs. Lubitz's presentation with a brief historical overview of the years 1933 to 1938.
Kristallnacht commemorates the night of November 9, 1938, when Nazi SS troops incited mobs to attack Jewish citizens living in Germany and Austria and to destroy synagogues and Jewish-owned businesses and property. Many regard this night as the turning point in Nazi persecution -- the first systematic act in the genocidal process against Jews.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Center at (609) 896-5345.
Rider University's Lawrenceville campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township, NJ. The campus is one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
