OCTOBER 17, 1997- DeESCH TO ASSUME NEW ACADEMIC POSTS AT RIDER UNIVERSITY




LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Dr. Jesse B. DeEsch (left) of Langhorne, PA, associate professor of education and counseling services at Rider University, has been appointed chairperson of graduate education and human services and assistant dean of education.

Dr. DeEsch came to Rider in 1974 after serving 15 years as a teacher and counselor in the Pennsbury School District. He received his Ph.D. in guidance and psychological services from Indiana State University. He holds a M.A. from Ohio State University and a B.S. from East Stroudsburg University.

At Rider, Dr. DeEsch teaches courses in group procedures, family counseling and school counseling, as well as practicum and internship courses. He was presented with Rider's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1987.

A National Certified Counselor (NCC) and expert in the areas of group process, developmental school counseling services, collaboration or professional counseling services, and at-risk adolescents, Dr. DeEsch is currently president of the 1,500-member New Jersey Counselors Association. He has also been named a Fellow in the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW), one of only 37 group work specialists to ever receive this highest distinction from the 6,000-member national organization of group counseling specialists.

Rider University is an independent, coeducational, nonsectarian institution with a 353-acre campus in Lawrenceville, NJ, and a 23-acre campus in Princeton, NJ. The University offers 58 undergraduate programs and 15 graduate programs in business, liberal arts, science, education, and music. Ninety-five percent of Rider's faculty members hold doctoral or other appropriate terminal degrees. U.S. News and World Report has again ranked Rider in the top tier of northern universities based on the quality of its programs.
