MAY 8, 1997- BOLGE EARNS FULL SCHOLARSHIP, TEACHING/RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP AT RUTGERS
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Louise Bolge, a senior geosciences major/chemistry minor at Rider University, has received a full scholarship from the Rutgers University department of geological sciences to attain her Master of Science degree in geochemistry.
In addition to the tuition waiver, the Trenton, NJ, resident and graduate of McCorristin High School will complete a ½ teaching and ½ research assistantship worth in excess of $11,000. The total package offered by Rutgers is valued at nearly $20,000.
Bolge is currently completing a senior research assistantship under the director of Dr. Jonathan Husch, professor of geological and marine sciences at Rider. Her research is based on the Rocky Hill diabase and smaller associated intrusions in South Brunswick, NJ.
She will receive her Bachelor of Science degree during Rider's 132nd commencement exercises on Friday, May 14, 1997.
"The professors in the sciences are very helpful and knowledgeable," Bolge said about her collegiate career at Rider. "The campus is beautiful and full of some of the most down to earth people I've ever met."
Last fall, Bolge was one of four students nationwide to receive the American Mineralogist Undergraduate Award, presented by the Mineralogical Society of America for outstanding achievement in mineralogy-related courses.
Bolge is a member of Rider's Honor Key Society and Alpha Lambda Delta honor society. She has been cited with the top University students as an Andrew J. Rider Scholar, and has earned dean's list recognition every semester at the University.
