APRIL 18, 1997- RIDER ANNOUNCES SUMMER COURSES IN COUNSELING SERVICES PROGRAM

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Rider University has announced its Licensed Professional Counselor Series (LPCS) course schedule for the summer of 1997. The LPCS is administered by the counseling services program in Rider's College of Education and Human Services graduate studies division.
The LPCS is a sequence of weekend courses designed to help professional counselors obtain graduate credits to meet the State of New Jersey's Licensed Professional Counselor requirements and provide them with advanced skill training. One graduate credit is offered for each weekend course completed.
The following is a listing of the eleven courses being offered (with dates of course in italics):
- Advanced Group Leadership (May 31-June 1)
- Counseling Supervision: Issues, Concepts, and Methods (June 6-7)
- Advanced Substance Abuse (June 13-14)
- Self-Esteem: Theory and Practice (June 21-22)
- Counseling HIV/AIDS Clients: An Affirmative Approach (June 27-28)
- History and Concepts of Managed Behavioral Health Care (July 12-13)
- Using Family Systems Theory as a Basis for Counseling Strategies (July 19-20)
- Advanced Career Development: Vocational Transitions and Career Design (July 26-27)
- Ethical Issues of Managed Behavioral Health Care (August 2-3)
- Health Psychology (August 9-10)
- Counseling Sexual Minorities (August 15-16)
