APRIL 18, 1997- GRAD STUDENTS FROM VARIED VOCATIONS ORGANIZE CAREER TRANSITION WORKSHOP

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Five students from Rider University's graduate counseling program have organized a career transition workshop for other students and professionals who have reached a crossroads in their current occupation and are looking to take a new path in life.

The workshop, titled "New Directions in the World of Work," will be held on Saturday, May 10, 1997, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 210 Memorial Hall on Rider's Lawrenceville campus. It has been designed to help participants understand themselves in the world of work, and assist with creating job search strategies, developing networking skills, and honing interview techniques. Workshop coordinators also ask participants to bring a current resumé to be critiqued.

"The program was created by five women over the age of 30 who have changed careers and went back to Rider for a masters degree," said Amy Raditz, who formed the program along with Noelle Bassil, Lisa Dunn, Monica Ruscil, and Betty Dickey Toto. "We have gone through this adult transition ourselves, which is why we are putting on the workshop."

The organizers are part of an independent study project advised by Dr. Mary Guindon in the graduate division of Rider's College of Education and Human Services.

The workshop is open to the public. Registration fees are $20 for non-students and $10 for students; however, Rider students and alumni will be admitted free. For more information, please call (609) 219-4988 ext. 47290.

Rider University's Lawrenceville campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township, NJ. The campus is one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
