MARCH 28, 1997- LIGHT NAMED EASTERN REGION COLLEGIAN OF THE YEAR BY DELTA SIGMA PI

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Rider University student Kendra K. Light of Forest City, PA, has been named the 1997 Collegian of the Year for the Eastern Region by Delta Sigma Pi international business fraternity.

Light, a senior majoring in actuarial science with minors in French and mathematics, was nominated by her peers in Rider University's chapter of the fraternity. She was one of 22 students nationwide selected as a regional winner and was among the top five in the running for the national Collegian of the Year award, the highest accolade presented by Delta Sigma Pi.

"I was honored by the nomination," said Light, who plans to go to graduate school with the goal of earning a doctorate in finance after completing her undergraduate curriculum at Rider. "I've been a member of the fraternity since my first semester at Rider, and I was very proud that they recognized my efforts. Delta Sigma Pi means a lot to me."

In addition to serving as president of the Rider chapter of Delta Sigma Pi and resident advisor of her dormitory, Light is a member of the University's student Judicial Board, Ensemble Band, and CREW, an interactive business program. She has also been accepted for membership in Alpha Lambda Delta, Pi Delta Phi, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies, and has been named to the National Dean's List and in Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges.

Light is a graduate of Mountain View High School in Kingsley, PA, where she earned valedictorian honors for the class of 1993.

Rider University's Lawrenceville campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township, NJ. The campus is one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
