APRIL 8, 1998- LEAVER TO GIVE FIRST IORIO FACULTY RESEARCH PRIZE LECTURE
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- Dr. Robin Leaver, professor of sacred music at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, will speak on the international appeal of Bach for the first Dominick A. Iorio Faculty Research Prize Lecture on Tuesday, April 21, in Gill Memorial Chapel at 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Leaver (left) was the first recipient of the Iorio Faculty Research Prize last fall. The award was named in honor of Dr. Dominick A. Iorio, who retired as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Science after 24 years in June 1997.
Each spring the winner of the award will give the lecture in what will become a new tradition at the University.
A member of the Westminster Choir College faculty since 1984, Dr. Leaver has published about 30 books and significantly contributed to 30 others. He has published more than 200 articles, reviews, and program notes for concerts and recordings. Many of these publications have received international attention. His scholarly work deals with theology, history, worship, church music, and hymnology.
Dr. Leaver is co-editor of the series, Drew Studies in Liturgy, and editor of Studies in Liturgical Musicology. He has a book awaiting publication and several articles or chapters in press.
Gill Memorial Chapel is located on Rider's Lawrenceville campus. The campus is located five miles south of Princeton and three miles north of Trenton on Route 206 in Lawrence Township, NJ, one-half mile south of exit 7A of Interstate 95.
