Students are invited to membership in Kappa Phi Kappa if they carry a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher on Rider's standard 4.0 scale. A formal induction ceremony finalizes membership.

Once inducted, students are required to contribute a minimum of six hours of community service. The honor society also meets several times per semester where guest speakers and creative activities are offered to expand students' professional and educational experiences.

Rider's department of undergraduate education within the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences' School of Education is designed to prepare students for careers in public and non-profit schools, organizations, and agencies. The department's three undergraduate degree programs in education, elementary education, and secondary education embody the highest academic and professional standards for the intellectual, personal and social development of each student in a changing world. The education degree offers majors in business education and marketing; the elementary education sequence emphasizes early childhood education; and the secondary education degree program offers dual-major options English, French, German, Spanish, mathematics, science, and social studies.
