NOVEMBER 18, 1998- RIDER CHOIR TO SHOWCASE 26 VOICES IN HOLIDAY SEASON CONCERT
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- The 26-member Rider University Choir will present its annual Christmas season concert on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel on the University's Lawrenceville campus. Admission to the one-hour program is free and open to the public.
The major work in the program is Vivaldi's Gloria, a composition for chorus and soloists sung in Latin. The choir will also perform the Austrian carol "Still, Still, Still" and Yon's "Gesu Bambino," as well as popular American holiday songs "Let It Snow!" "Winter Wonderland," and the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's The Messiah.
There will also be performance by smaller ensembles within the group, including the Rider chorale, the women's ensemble, and a pair of male duets.
The concert will be accompanied by renowned Mercer County pianist Myra Bliss.
The Rider University Choir, conducted by June Tipton of the University's fine arts department, is comprised solely of students from Rider's Lawrenceville campus who receive academic credit in fine arts for their work.
