OCTOBER 14, 1998- RIDER GALLERY RECEIVES $2,000 FROM CULTURAL AND HERITAGE COMMISSION
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- The Rider University Art Gallery, located on the third floor of the Student Center on the University's Lawrenceville campus, has recently received a $2,000 grant from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission to help fund exhibitions during the 1998-99 academic year.
Funding has been made possible in part by the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission through a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
The Rider University Art Gallery currently has four exhibits scheduled for the 1998-99 academic year. The current exhibit, which runs through October 25, is titled "Three Perspectives: Contemporary Fiber Artists" and features works by Russian fiber artists Ludmila Aristova, Natasha Muradova, and Ludmila Uspenskaya.
Paintings by Lawrence Township native Jeff Epstein will comprise the gallery's next exhibit, which begins on November 5 and continues through December 6. Epstein, who works out of Brooklyn, has an affinity for painting suburban landscape scenes and other objects at night. His exhibition will feature paintings of Rider campus scenes, as well as works portraying other sites throughout Mercer County.
Remaining exhibits planned for this academic year include photo montages by Susan Hockaday in January, and various New Jersey landscape paintings in March.
Normal gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Detailed information on each exhibition and artist(s), including any special events planned in conjunction with the exhibit, will be announced several weeks prior to each show.
