December 15, 2005 - Rider's School of Education Receives NCATE Re-accreditation

The Rider University School of Education continued its mark of distinction with the full re- accreditation of its undergraduate and graduate education programs. Such national recognition came last month from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).


December 15, 2005 - Rider School of Education to Offer Middle School Minor

To help educators meet the growing demands today’s adolescents face, Rider University School of Education will offer a minor in middle school education starting next fall.


December 8, 2005 - Grant To Help Library Place Noted Shorthand Collection Online

Rider University has received a three-year, $95,300 grant from The New York Community Trust – John Robert Gregg Fund to continue the preservation work and to develop Web-based access to the Louis A. Leslie collection of shorthand materials.


November 29 - Rider to Partner in Cyber Crime and Forensics Institute

Rider University is one of three universities that will share $1 million in funding, which the United States Congress approved in the Fiscal Year 2006 Science, Commerce, Justice and State Appropriations Bill for the establishment of a Cyber Crime and Forensics Institute.


November 22, 2005 - Westminster Will Participate in "A Royal Christmas" Tour

Westminster will once again participate in "A Royal Christmas" holiday concerts that will be presented in some of the country's largest performing venues in December.


November 8 - Rider Chemistry Department Receives NSF Grant for High Tech Equipment

Rider chemistry and biochemistry students will soon expand their research and critical thinking skills when the chemistry department purchases a liquid chromatograph/mass spectrometer for curricular use thanks to a $119,960 National Science Foundation grant.


October 25 - Founder's Day to Honor 53 Scholars
Rider University will honor 53 students as Andrew J. Rider Scholars at its annual Founder's Day program on Saturday, November 5.

October 20 - SRC Opening Generates Sense of Excitement, Pride

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Student Recreation Center on Wednesday, October 19 marked an historic day for Rider University and generated a sense of excitement and pride in the campus community.


October 19 - Linda Luedeke Lobby “A Welcoming Portal”

A large group of campus community members turned out for the dedication of the Linda Luedeke Lobby in the Bart Luedeke Center Tuesday evening, October 18. They were there to honor Linda and show their appreciation for her and her husband, former president Bart Luedeke.


October 11 - Author, Civil Rights Activist Celebrates Unity Day at Rider
In celebration of Rider's eighth annual Unity Day, Dr. Lani Guinier, noted author and civil rights activist, will address race and gender issues, upholding Rider's theme, "Courage to be Just," Tuesday, October 18.

October 11 - Rider’s CONNECT-ED Consortium to Hold ‘Big Ideas’ Conference
The Rider-led CONNECT-ED consortium dedicated to improving science and mathematics teaching in Central New Jersey, will discuss the big idea approach to learning at the first conference on Friday, October 14 in the Luedeke Center.

October 11 - Campus Community Invited to SRC Ribbon Cutting Ceremony October 19

Students, faculty and staff on both campuses are invited to the ribbon cutting for the new 55,000 square foot Student Recreation Center at noon on Wednesday, October 19.


October 11 - Linda Luedeke Lobby to be Dedicated October 18

Members of the Rider University community are invited to attend the dedication of the Linda Luedeke Lobby in the Bart Luedeke Center on Tuesday, October 18 at 5 p.m. 


September 28 - Rider SELECT Program - A National Case Study
Rider's Science Education and Literacy Center (SELECT) was chosen as one of four case studies at the 2005 National Symposium of Science Education for Business Leaders held recently at the National Academy of Sciences. It marked the second time Rider SELECT has been a case study discussion at a national conference.

September 28 - The Arc Mercer Honors Casale-Giannola

Dr. Diane Casale-Giannola, assistant professor in the department of teacher education, will be recognized by The Arc Mercer September 30 for a field-based class she created to serve individuals with developmental disabilities. 


September 27 - MBA Student Wins Wall Street Journal Award
Courtney J. Herrick, an MBA student and three-time Andrew J. Rider Scholar as an undergraduate, is a recipient of The Wall Street Journal's 2005 Student Achievement Award.

September 19 - Art Gallery Features Work of Lambertville Resident
Rider University Art Gallery will open this fall with an exhibition by Lambertville resident, John Goodyear, former professor of art and former chairperson at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.

September 17 - Rider Cuts Ribbon for new Biology Lab
Rider University recently opened a newly renovated freshman biology lab that features improved technology and flexible workspace for student research. 

September 12 - Rider’s Hurricane Katrina Outreach
Rider’s Lawrenceville and Princeton campuses are showing compassion and support for those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region.

September 11 - Rider Remembers 9-11 During Candlelight/Wreath Laying Ceremony
About 150 members of the Rider campus community gathered for a 9-11 remembrance ceremony.

September 7 - Wachovia’s $645,000 Grant Supports Rider Teacher Development Consortium

Wachovia Foundation, a strong supporter of education and teacher development, has joined a Rider University-led consortium dedicated to improving science and mathematics teaching in the region by awarding the University a three-year $645,000 grant.


September 2 - Bitner, Husch, Roell Lauded for Distinguished Service
Karen Bitner, senior administrative secretary in the College of Liberal Arts, Education and Sciences; Dr. Jonathan Husch, professor of geological and marine sciences; and Bill Roell, associate vice president and controller, received the 2005 Frank N. Elliott Award for Distinguished Service during the faculty and staff convocation on September 1.

August 31 - New Rider Residence Hall Apartments, Suites Open to Students

A new contemporary look to the main mall will greet Rider University students when they return to the Lawrenceville campus on Sunday and Monday (September 4-5).


August 19 - U. S. News, Princeton Review Ranks Rider in Top Tiers
U.S. News & World Report's 2006 edition of America's Best Colleges has again ranked Rider University in the top tier of northern regional universities under the designation of “Best Universities – Master.”

August 19 - Roll Out the Red Carpet is Welcome Theme at Rider
“Roll Out The Red Carpet” is Rider University’s welcome theme for the new academic year.  Special highlights are Cranberry Fest and the New Residence Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to take place on Thursday, September 8.

July 21 - Athletic Trainer Named to Governor’s Task Force

Timothy Lengle, head athletic trainer at Rider, has been named to Acting Governor Richard J. Codey's newly created task force to examine steroid use in high school athletes.
