October 11 - Linda Luedeke Lobby to be Dedicated October 18

Members of the Rider University community are invited to attend the dedication of the Linda Luedeke Lobby in the Bart Luedeke Center on Tuesday, October 18 at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Luedeke is the wife of Bart Luedeke, Rider’s fifth president.  In June 2003, upon President Luedeke’s retirement, the Board of Trustees named the student center lobby in her honor in recognition of her many years of outstanding service to the University and her enduring commitment to Rider students and her active community involvement.  Linda served as a member of Rider’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day Committee and graciously hosted many University events over the years including Board dinners, Admissions receptions, Student Government Association barbeques, Longtimers receptions, and new faculty and staff receptions, among others.  She also gave generously of her time cheering on Rider student-athletes, attending and participating in a variety of donor recognition events, theater productions and Westminster concerts.

Linda was honored last week with the Clara Barton Award for Distinguished Volunteer service from the Central New Jersey Chapter of the American Red Cross, of which she has been a Board member for the past 10 years.  She has also been an active volunteer for WomanSpace, Mercer Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church.

Through the Board’s generosity, the Luedeke Lobby was recently renovated with new lighting, carpeting, furniture and suspended ceilings, making it an attractive entranceway to the building named in Bart Luedeke’s honor.  A wall celebrating the excellence of Rider students, faculty and staff will be a prominent feature of the renovated lobby and will include recipients of the Frank N. Elliott Award, the President’s Award, the Dominick A. Iorio Research Prize, and the Distinguished Teaching Award.
