April 12 - Universally Rider: Theme of University Day
LAWRENCEVILLE – “Universally Rider” is the theme of Rider University’s 11th birthday celebration Thursday, April 14. Festivities take place 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Cavalla Room of the Bart Luedeke Center Cavalla Room.
The theme is in keeping with Rider’s continual mission to develop a globally conscious campus community and to celebrate its diversity. It is also a day for members of the campus community to show appreciation for colleagues who “mean the world to Rider.”
“Rider’s legacy is expanding,” said Bridget Weikel, assistant director of campus life. “We continually explore the far corners of the world as students study abroad, international students join our community, faculty and staff research and present findings to new international neighbors, and alumni travel to various destinations. Everyone will learn something new about the world in which they live.”
At noon, the Nancy Gray Award will be presented to an outstanding staff or faculty member who personifies the principles of campus leadership, campus involvement, school spirit and community service. Gray served as vice president for development and university relations from 1991 to 1998. Those in attendance will have a chance to experience a global view of the seven continents presented by students and dine on international food. Highlights also include a performance by the Rider University Dance Team and music provided by the Diablo Sandwich Band. Commemorative University Day T-shirts, gift prizes and much more is in store.
Traditionally, University Day is celebrated on or near April 13 each year to recognize the day in 1994 when Rider officially achieved university status.
