Undergraduate Commencement - Rain Policy and Rain Tickets

Rider University will conduct the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on its Lawrenceville campus on Friday, May 9, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.

Given favorable weather, we intend to hold this ceremony outside on the Campus Green so that we can accommodate all of our students and their families. There will be no limit to the number of guests you can invite to attend the outside ceremony.

If it is raining when the ceremony is scheduled to begin, but the forecast for later that morning is favorable, we will consider delaying the start of the procession until the weather clears.

In the event of heavy, continuing rain or severe weather, we will move the ceremony into the Student Recreation Center (SRC). Due to limited seating availability, only two guests per graduate will be admitted into the Student Recreation Center.  Each graduate will receive two “rain” tickets at cap and gown distribution. Guests who do not have these tickets may view a live video broadcast of the ceremony in the Alumni Gym or the Bart Luedeke Center Theater, or by visiting www.rider.edu.

You will be able to obtain the latest information about the location of the ceremony by visiting the Rider website, www.rider.edu, or by calling the Rider information hotline at 609-219-2000 for updates as late as Friday morning, May 9th.  Should schedule changes be required due to severe weather, these changes will also be announced on local radio stations including WHWH, WPST, WBUD, WIMG, NJ101.5, WTTM, WCTC, WCHR, WBCB, and WOR-NY.

If you have any questions regarding Commencement, please contact the Office of the President at 609-896-5001 or visit www.rider.edu/commencement.
