Sept. 21 - Noted Journalist Unity Day Speaker

Reflecting upon the 50th anniversary observance of Brown vs. the Board of Education this year, George Curry, editor-in-chief of the National Newspaper Publishers Association News Service and BlackPressUSA.com, will address its ramifications to kick off Rider University's seventh annual Unity Day celebration Tuesday, Oct. 5.
Curry will speak at 7 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center Theater (BLC). His talk is free and open to the public. Programming is sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Community Service (see calendar for events). On Wednesday, October 6 at 7 p.m., activities will culminate with a performance of "Platanos and Collard Greens," a play by noted Latino playwright David Lamb, in the BLC Theater. The performance is free and open to the public.
Curry's weekly column is syndicated by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) to more than 200 African American newspapers with a combined readership of 1.5 million. Prior to joining the NNPA, he was editor-in-chief of Emerge, known as black America's news magazine, from 1993 until June 2000.
