September 25, 2007 -- Fisher Named Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist at Rider
LAWRENCEVILLE -- As one of the major components in Rider University’s ongoing quest to educate the campus community on issues surrounding alcohol and substance abuse and to lessen related incidents, Mark Fisher of Ewing, N.J., has been appointed Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist. The former counselor at New Horizons Treatment Services in Trenton, N.J., started his new position on September 10.
Fisher will provide overall comprehensive coordination of Rider’s alcohol and substance abuse programming. “I look forward to working with members of the campus community,” said Fisher. “Maintaining close communication is one of the key elements in creating a culture that is intolerant of drug and alcohol abuse.”
While at New Horizons, Fisher provided individual and group counseling for clients, which included long-term treatment plans. His areas were prevention, recovery and addiction relapse issues. Prior to that, he served as an adjunct counselor in Rider’s Counseling Office at Westminster Choir College on the Princeton campus.
Fisher earned a B.S. in speech and dramatic arts from Central Michigan University and an M.A. in community counseling summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey. In addition, he holds certification as a National Certified Counselor.
