March 30, 2007, 9 a.m. - Update on Serious Incident Re: Two Rider Students

I want to update the Rider community on the condition of Gary DeVercelly, our student who was transported early yesterday morning to Capital Health System's Helene Fuld campus. Gary remains in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit. Dean of Students Tony Campbell and I met Gary's family when they arrived at the hospital yesterday afternoon and offered them our full support. Last evening, the Rider community came together at a silent vigil in Gill Chapel to offer their continued thoughts and prayers for the DeVercelly family in their time of need.

We have been informed that the second Rider student who was transported to the hospital early yesterday morning has been released and is doing well.

We will continue to update you on Gary's condition as information becomes available. Should any member of the University community need support or information during this very difficult time, please contact our Student Affairs staff at 609-896-5101.

Mordechai Rozanski
President
