Scholarship Opportunities
For Prospective Fine Arts (Theatre) Students:
Acting Scholarship
This scholarship awards two high school seniors full tuition for four years in exchange for involvement in the Department’s three major theatre productions each year. The winners may choose to major in Fine Arts (theatre) or elect another major and minor in Fine Arts (theatre).

For Current Fine Arts Students:
Mildred C. Hawkins Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Mildred C. Hawkins to benefit Fine Arts majors with concentrations in dance, music, and theatre. The scholarship is merit based and for one year. Students must be full time and in good academic standing.
Thumper Foundation Scholarship
Established by the Thumper Foundation, this scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in Fine Arts (art) or Fine Arts (music). The student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, be a resident of the State of New Jersey, and be a sophomore, junior or senior. The award of $1,000.00 will be given each year to a student for the fall semester.
Choir Award
A certificate is awarded to a graduating senior for outstanding contribution to the Rider University Choir.
Wilson Sturdevandt Band Award
Established in memory of Wilson Sturdevant, a musician and lover of music from Ewing, New Jersey, this yearly scholarship was created to support and encourage musically gifted students at Rider University who are members of the Rider University Band. The award of $500.00 will be given to the most deserving student, and can not be awarded to the same student twice.
The John Philip Sousa Band Award
This is an award of recognition for outstanding service to the Band program at Rider University. It is awarded to one or two junior or senior students who have shown consistent dedication to their musicality and to the band in general.
Linda Schmidt Memorial Award
A check for $50.00 and a plaque are presented to the art student who submits an artistic contribution to a panel of judges. The winning art piece will be presented to the University for appropriate display.
