Student Profiles

The Rider experience can be different for each of us, and Rider’s goal is to nurture our students to find the success that fits their lives. Part of that nurturing is how Rider integrates leadership into every facet of their education.  We believe leadership should be understood and practiced by students in every major.  Leadership skills build self-reliance and when students are self-reliant, the opportunities are endless.  Who knows how far they’ll go.

Dan Silberman

"I enjoy the small class sizes and the close student-faculty interaction.  Rider has given me great opportunities in the laboratory setting.  I also enjoy wrestling on the University’s team."

Whitney Corbett

"At Westminster, most of the classes I take are directly related to my major in some way.  I feel like every class I take has relevance to my goals for the future.  The student to teacher ratio is also very good, so every teacher knows me by name, even if I haven’t had a class with them.  All of the faculty members are so willing to help outside of class, and I fell I can go to them anytime with questions regarding my development both scholastically and professionally."

Maidul Begum

"My family loves the Rider campus and I love the small classroom sizes.  At Rider, you can enjoy the scenic campus on those warm sunny mornings walking to class, and cooling down with an iced coffee drink from Java City in the evenings.  It is a campus that has much to offer, and teaches the students values of life and so much beyond classroom knowledge."

Nick Ballasy

"Everyone is supportive of students and I saw a window of opportunity when I learned I could begin producing programming as early as my freshman year.  Each show, of course, had to be good enough to air, but I was confident Rider would give me the tools to learn."

Elizabeth and Rebecca Clatch

Elizabeth: "I mostly enjoy the small and personal class sizes.  I love the fact that I can get to know my professors and know that I can always find them during their office hours for additional help.  The courses are challenging, but rewarding.  I also enjoy the variety of friends I have made on campus.  There are always places to go and people to hang out with.  I rarely go home and always have something to do.  It’s nearly impossible to get bored on campus."

Rebecca:  "The best learning experience had to be when I was a Resident Advisor last year.  It was pretty tough to do that while playing on the team and keeping my grades up.  I definitely learned where my priorities were.  I got the opportunity to meet so many new freshmen in my building and worked with an awesome staff.  The help and support of so many great people helped me be successful."

Kevin Hickman

"I love the small classes and the caring and accessible faculty.  The campus is the perfect size – you know all of the faces and almost everyone’s name."

Ryan Crimmins

"The quality of the professors is outstanding.  The quality of the voice faculty is beyond that of anywhere else."

Shelly Helfgott

"When I was applying to college, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted.  I thought I wanted to go to a state school close to home.  But when I came to visit the Rider campus, I changed my mind.  I just pictured myself here and I am really happy with my decision."

Zuri Hadi

"From being at Rider, I have learned that you obtain many of your advantages by getting involved on campus.  I became a tour guide and a student ambassador.  I have a work study job in Residence Life and I’m also a member of the Black Student Union and Women’s Center.  My college experience is teaching me about myself.  The old Zuri was so reserved and uninvolved.  Now I can’t wait to see what I participate in next."

Michael Carlucci

"I love the one on one attention students receive from professors.  The surroundings and the faculty really make Rider comfortable."

Jarah Turner

“I enjoy that I have been able to continue learning Spanish while pursuing my interests in international affairs, politics and business. There is such flexibility among the different disciplines that allowed for me to build my degree from areas that I find interesting and important.”

BeiWen Lu (Emma)

“I can easily find help from the faculty or my fellow students.  At Rider, we do not only learn professional skills from the professor, we also learn about real-world business experiences from knowledgeable classmates.”

Julie Patrick

“Rider gives you every opportunity to have hands on experiences to further your learning. Within the education department, you get the normal classroom experience, while getting the chance to put what you are learning to work in an actual classroom. It is such a great program, and being a student teacher, I now realize how much those previous experiences have prepared me for where I am today.”

Dana Previti

"Rider University has enabled me to combine aspects in my life that truly represent who I am.  I was able to work with Education and Communication professors and play tennis.  The Education aspect has prepared me for my career and being able to incorporate Communication into that as well all while playing the sport I grew up loving has been tremendously rewarding for me."

Justin Cocliff

“College is not only about graduating with a degree in the subject field you major in, but finding yourself and finding out who and what you want to be. Through my classroom experiences and social experiences, Rider has shaped who I am.”

Hayley Wittsack

"I chose Rider University mostly for the small community it is. I knew the classes would be a smaller, comfortable size that would give me a greater chance of interacting and getting to know my professors and peers. Also, the Business school seemed like it had a lot to offer me for my future, and it turns out it does. There are so many opportunities to meet and network with recruiters and employees of great companies that I would consider working for."

Cassandra Douglas

"There is an abounding feeling of warmth on the Westminster campus. Everyone smiles and greets you on a daily basis. Our community is small but our hearts are large. Not only are the students friendly and accepting but the faculty here are amazing musicians. Inspiration can be sought daily at Westminster either from fellow students or faculty. Lastly, the work is hard but the end result is a reward like no other. Now that I am graduating I am glad to have experienced this school. I feel I am prepared to face what the world has to offer."

Lacey Korevec

"I chose Rider because I liked its small, comfortable size and was impressed by caring faculty members I had met at an open house. I had no idea back then how close I would become with those faculty members and how much of an impact they would have on me."

Brian Noreika

"Rider has definitely impacted my life in a positive way.  I value the friendships I have made and the relationships I developed with faculty and administration.  Rider has a lot of hidden treasures that are worthwhile to get involved in.  College is what you make of it, so take advantage of the treasures Rider has to offer."
